Join us for the next olive harvest

Updated: Jan 15, 2022

An olive harvest is one of the most fascinating experiences you can enjoy in Portugal. It is a wonderful way to learn a lot about the local food traditions and about the local culture. Those who have experienced it say that the enthusiasm of the olive farmers and the atmosphere in a working oil mill during the harvesting season is something unique.

It's a lot of work to make just one bottle of olive oil. Also, we have over 1600 trees to harvest so it's an intense period when the harvest comes around. Everyone on the farm joins in. Other projects get put on hold. And we can use all the help we can get.

We invite others who are motivated to join us to come and stay with us for a few days and experience an olive harvest. This all happens from the end of September to mid-November. It's not the warmest and sunniest time of the year in the Alentejo, but it's a really unique time to be on the farm.

You can experience the olive harvest, be part of the olive oil production process and learn about the strive to make high-quality extra virgin olive oil.

If you want to help us and harvest with us daily for 5 or more days, here is your chance...

  • We will offer you one of our beautiful guest rooms in one of our two guesthouses.

  • After a good breakfast, you will have guidance from us on how to collect and sort the olives. There will be light lunch midday and then the work continues in the afternoon.

  • At the end of the day you will enjoy a great dinner with everybody around a big cozy dinner table.

It's a fantastic chance to make friends with lovely people from around the world and to get satisfaction from a unique activity.
